Prep, Year 1: Integrated Curriculum

• How many people are in your family? Draw a picture of your family. Can you write the names of each person?
• Watch the news tonight and find out what tomorrow’s weather will be like. Talk about this with an adult. Draw a picture to show what you will wear.
• Find a family photo of a special happening in your life.
• Tell an adult about what is happening in this photo.
• Think about a time when your family went somewhere together. Where did you go? What did you do? Draw something you remember from this time.
• Ask an adult to help you make a musical instrument. (Maybe you can use clean, empty containers and rice.) Can you use this musical instrument to keep the beat while you sing your favourite song?
• What is your favourite day of the week? Tell an adult about the day you like best. Draw something you like to do on your favourite day of the week and try to write a sentence about it too.
• Every person in your family has responsibilities.
• Talk about your responsibilities you have at home with an adult.
• We live in Australia. Ask an adult to show you how to find a map of Australia in an atlas or on the internet. Ask them to show you where Melbourne is. Have you been to other parts of Australia? Talk about this with an adult too.
