Years 3/4: Literacy Tasks

• Design a poster promoting our school. Explain your poster to an adult.
• Ask an adult to write down a very long word for you e.g. celebration. See how many little words you can make from the letters.
• Create some sporting words using ‘action’ writing, e.g. swimming in a wave shape, the word ‘running’ with feet under each letter, etc
• Find an article in the daily newspaper. Read it and decide on three main points in the article. Ask an adult to read the same article and see if they agree with your main points.
• The answer is school. What are five possible questions? Ask two other members of your family to do the same.
• Play a family game of Scrabble.
• If you could meet a famous sports person, who would it be? Think of 5 questions you would ask this person. Ask two other people in your family to do the same.
• Ask an older member of your family who their favourite author was when they were young.
