Literacy and Numeracy Week | Splash of Colour Information for Families

  • Our Writing Competition closed Friday 9 August. Good luck to everyone who entered. Primary winners will be announced at the Costume Parade on Friday 23 August, and during the Week 10 assembly for the Secondary winner.
  • Library Competition encouraging students to review and write about their favourite book character.  More information can be found here
  • 5 cent drive has begun! Please continue to encourage your children to bring in as many 5 cent pieces as they can. The winning class (the class with the most coins) will win a movie and popcorn. Money will be collected up until Friday 29 August.
  • Splash of colour day: To tie in with the school values we are wearing a ‘splash’ of colour each day. A ‘splash’ is a ribbon, socks etc. not an entire outfit.  Please see the website or Compass for your colour themes.
  • Match the teacher with the book: Ms Hall has organised a display at each campus for Match the teacher with your favourite book. Good luck!
  • Daily puzzle: There will be a puzzle to be solved – sent out by the Literacy and Numeracy team each morning.  Will you be able to guess the puzzle?
  • Door Displays:  We can't wait to see the amazing door displays that have been created during our Buddies sessions. Judging of the doors will be on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Good luck to everyone, an announcement of the winning door will be during the Book Parade.
  • Reading is my Secret Power F-6: Parade:

    On Friday 23 August at Jamieson Way at 9am and Boardwalk at 9.45am. The overall theme is: ‘Reading is my secret power’, which is the overall theme for Book Week this year. Students are to come dressed either within the theme, or as their favourite character from their favourite book.   The parade is for F-6 students only, however students in Year 7 may dress up on the day if they wish although they will not be part of the parade. 

  • Are you Smarter than a Carranballac 5th Grader: Year 5's will compete against College staff in a quiz format similar to a television show of the same name.  All questions are written and ready to go and are ready for a good competition between students and staff.
  • Year 2 - 4: Science saves the Day incursion: Years 2-4 have a very special science incursion on Tuesday – Boardwalk’s at 9.30 in the morning in the PAC and Jamieson Way’s in the gym at 1.30. 
  • Teddy Bears Picnic: A picnic for Foundation - Year 2 students is on Wednesday at Boardwalk, and Jamieson Way on Thursday.  Both picnics will start at 10am until 10:35am.
