I would like to introduce myself as the new College Director.
I have been with the Department of Education for over 30 years and have worked in the Western and Northern regions. This is my third school as principal. I am excited to be at Carranballac P-9 College and look forward to getting to know your community.
This term will be heavily focused on re-engaging students, re-establishing routines and supporting successful transitions to 2021. The Department of Education has committed to refocusing efforts on a set of three common and core priorities that will be the most important areas of focus for Term 4. These priorities are:
- Mental health and wellbeing: Wellbeing, particularly the mental health of every student.
- Learning: Supporting students who need to catch up on learning, and extending those who have progressed.
- Transitions: Ensuring successful transitions for children moving from kindergarten into Prep, Year 6 moving into Year 7, and for us, Year 9’s moving to further education.
This year has been a year like no other and we have been presented with many challenges. I know the students will have learnt some valuable lessons in regard to our college values, particularly resilience. Next week students will begin to return back on-site which will be lovely as a school without students is a very strange environment.
There has been some indication from the media that Year 7's will return to school next week. We will provide more detailed information when we receive confirmation from the department.
