Carranballac has a dedicated DSM (Defence School Mentor). The role of a DSM is to help reduce the impacts of relocation & parental absence on Defence children. The DSM monitors the social & emotional wellbeing of the students, working with them to build self-confidence and resilience.
Carranballac P-9 College has a dedicated DSM (Defence School Mentor) who works across both schools. Each year a varying number of students and their families post in/out of Carranballac P-9 College from many locations around Australia and the world.
A DSM role is to help reduce the impacts of relocation and parental absence on Defence children. The DSM assists the integration of students into new schools providing support to students and their families.
Mentors work to minimise the impact of mobility on education and build the capability of the school in support of Defence students and their families. Mentors monitor the social and emotional wellbeing of the students, work with them to build self-confidence, self- reliance and resilience. When required students are referred to wellbeing services and school programs.
